Vehicles in Germany's City Discovered Smeared with Swastikas in Human Blood, Police Report
Area Police
Around 50 vehicles have been covered with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Cars, building surfaces and mailboxes were vandalized, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they stated in a statement.
Officers say they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a resident noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued liquid.
The substance had been applied in the shape of a banned symbol, they reported.
Police then located multiple other marked cars and house walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are banned in Germany under regulations banning the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Officials state early analysis suggest the fluid was probably blood from a person.
"Currently there is no indication as to where it came from; authorities are not yet cognizant of any injuries in association with the event," they stated.
Municipal representatives said they were attempting "to resolve the incident" and have requested to the community for tips.
A high-ranking representative said the incident made him stunned and required to be addressed rapidly.
"This event hits the center of Hanau and reopens the pain of the right-wing attack five years ago," he posted on a platform, mentioning the killing of nine individuals by a gunman aiming at residents of immigrant origin in 2020.
